Their dinner is the garbage bin trash..
Their drinking water is the gutter drainage…
No one cares about them. Not even their loved ones. They have nothing, not even a place to call home. Their only 'address' - a makeshift cardboard on the roadsides and byways of streets. They scavenge through foul smelling garbage bins for food and filthy drainage gutters for water. These are not just the poor, but mentally unsound women.
Labeled as "insane" or "mad", these mentally scarred women are ostracized and forsaken by their families due to the shame of stigma or extreme poverty. Imagine being cast aside on the highways or roadsides by those closest to you?
Restoring the Light;
An oasis where destitute mentally ill experience the healing touch of a heart that cares
In the midst of this overwhelming indifference, Abayashram emerged as a haven for ostracized women suffering from mental illness - a beacon of hope that rescued thousands of women from desolate roadsides, and provided them with a safe refuge, healing of mind and much-needed rest.
With a compassionate healthcare and support team by their side who genuinely understands and cherishes every mentally ill woman as a unique person deserving of utmost respect, multitudes at Abayashram have regained their mental well-being and now lead happy, fulfilled lives.
